The Westside Creeks Project includes approximately 2.81 miles of Martinez Creek beginning at IH 10 and Hildebrand and extending to the confluence with Alazán Creek. The project area begins near the Mid-town area, flows adjacent to the Beacon Hill neighborhood and crosses under IH 10 past Fredericksburg Road. The area where the creek crosses Fredericksburg Road is part of VIA Metropolitan’s Bus Rapid Transit Line, connecting downtown and the medical center area. This area of Fredericksburg Road is also the beginning of the Deco District revitalization efforts along Fredericksburg Road and home to the Jefferson-Woodlawn Lake Community Development Corporation and several active neighborhood associations.
The Martinez Creek Watershed spans approximately 7.3 square miles stretching from just north of the intersection of Callaghan Road and IH 10 to the confluence with Alazán Creek near Perez Street.
